Softwood

Softwood is a light, easily worked timber harvested from the coniferous and fast-growing trees found across Starsand Island. The lowest tier of wood, softwood is the first type of timber players can gather and process, obtained by chopping trees with an axe in the island's forested areas. Its ease of collection and processing makes it the foundation of early-game building and crafting.

Softwood is processed into Softwood Planks at a workbench, which are used in basic construction, furniture, and tool handles. While it is eventually superseded by hardwood and premium wood for higher-tier recipes, softwood remains useful throughout the game as a plentiful building material and fuel source, and players should always keep a healthy stock on hand.
