Ranching

The Ranching profession is Starsand Island's livestock and animal management career path, covering animals, breeding, genetics, animal products, and enclosure management. Mentored by Pastelle, Ranching unlocks after completing Apprentice Crafter and introduces a rich layer of farm life focused on caring for and raising animals. From collecting eggs and wool to mastering selective breeding genetics, Ranching adds a living, breathing dimension to the island's agricultural systems.

Ranching progresses through five tiers: Apprentice unlocks basic animal purchases and the Feeder; Junior opens the Mirth Feeder, Breeding House, and additional animal types; Intermediate unlocks the Mega Feeder and Selective Breeding House for genetics work; Senior unlocks the Love Feeder and advanced breeding features for rare color variants; and Expert Rancher requires breeding a White Horse — a prestigious and challenging goal that averages 15–25 breeding attempts — plus completing all ranching mastery challenges.

Ranching provides animal products essential for cooking and crafting, and the genetics system adds depth for players who enjoy optimizing traits and chasing rare color variants. The White Horse breeding requirement for Expert Rancher is one of the game's most discussed challenges — plan your breeding lines carefully and don't be discouraged by the RNG. For players who love animals and long-term goals, Ranching is among the most satisfying professions on the island.
