Fresh and uncured, it represents the starting point of the island's leather goods chain — before tanning can transform it into durable Leather, the hide must be stretched, cleaned, and treated to prevent decomposition.

Animal Hides are processed into Leather at a crafting station, making them the raw foundation for all leather-based goods on the island. Players who engage in hunting or animal ranching will accumulate hides naturally, and processing them into Leather promptly — rather than stockpiling raw hides — is the most space-efficient way to manage this resource.
