Tomato

Tomato is a juicy, bright-red fruit-vegetable harvested from vining plants cultivated in Starsand Island's garden plots. Fresh tomatoes balance sweetness and acidity in a way that makes them indispensable in cooking — they bring color, moisture, and umami depth to dishes ranging from simple salads to slow-cooked sauces and hearty stews.

Tomatoes are used directly in a variety of cooking recipes including Tomato Egg Bloom and Tomato Beef Stew, and likely appear as ingredients in sauces and soups throughout the recipe book. Growing a dedicated tomato plot ensures consistent access to one of the most cookable vegetables on the island, and their relatively quick growth cycle makes them efficient to cultivate.
