Among the most nutritionally complete plant foods, soybeans are as valuable for what can be made from them as for eating whole — serving as the source ingredient for Soy Sauce, Cooking Oil, tofu, and other processed foods that anchor the island's culinary traditions.

Soybeans are processed into Soy Sauce and Cooking Oil — two of the most frequently demanded cooking ingredients in the game. Players who grow a dedicated soybean plot and invest in the processing equipment to convert them will find their cooking capabilities dramatically expanded, as these two derivative products appear in a large fraction of mid-to-late game recipes.
